"Enchanted" lives happily ever after

"Enchanted" is the story of Giselle, a cartoon princess who dreams of finding her Prince Charming. They stumble upon each other, fall in love and agree to marry within a day. All is right with the world until Prince Charming's, or in this case Prince Edward's, stepmother realizes that her crown will soon be usurped. To stop this from happening she pushes Giselle into a magic waterfall that drops her right into the midst of Times Square -- in her complete princess regalia. When Edward finds out what has happened to his beloved, he quickly follows, as does his stepmother's assistant and finally stepmom herself.

From an impromptu musical number in Central Park to the prince's first encounter with a revolving door, seeing these fairy tale creatures come to life is a hilarious treat. Amy Adams plays the part of starry-eyed Giselle flawlessly and consistently throughout. Her wide, pleading eyes and fresh-faced innocence make her pleas for "happily ever after" endearing rather than nauseating.

James Marsden's Prince Edward is goofy and lovable which is a good counter to Patrick Dempsey's role as straight-man.

"Enchanted" shows us that although fairy tale endings are ridiculous, sometimes life can be too serious and love taken for granted. It reminds us that we all deserve to find true love and live in blissful happiness forever (and ever).
