Mission #1: Go Figure

Each team got a set of clues that corresponded with a map and had to remember numbers located at certain points. The "Dumb" team had to remember five numbers, while the "Smart" team had to remember only three.

At the first stop, Mark quickly got the math correct, but Clay spent a lot of time arguing that seven minus two does not equal five. And that was before the clues got confusing. When they finished the simple subtraction, they went on to get lost. Paul was the prime suspect for getting them lost.

On the other team, Nicole seemed to feel that Craig was trying to  confuse her by feeding her wrong numbers. Except at that point in their math, the numbers were increasing. It could have been on purpose and a good cover, or Craig just screwed up on the large set of numbers that they were supposed to be computing. Later in the mission Craig accused Nicole of doing practically the same thing, which made it appear the numbers were just too confusing.

Both teams made it to the end. The "Dumb" team screwed up one clue and got the number wrong. They had the opportunity to send either Craig or Nicole back to the clue location to refactor the numbers.  While Nicole was running back, the group found a pattern in the numbers. Nicole came back with the wrong number, and the group decided to go with their own number. Surprise, surprise, the group was right.

Clay dubbed himself the math genius, despite not being able to subtract seven from two earlier.

Total added to the pot: $30,000.

There was some strategy in this episode. Mark and Clay shared information about the last quiz. Clay told Mark he chose Nicole as all of his options. But then Clay had a secret meeting with Nicole and told her he was going to choose Craig. Nicole seemed to think that because Clay is black that he wouldn't lie to her.

Mission #2:

Isn't kidnapped family a fun way to add pressure to the game? They weren't really kidnapped, just locked inside a train unless their chosen "trusted" contestant answered three questions correctly. For each person freed, $10,000 was added to the pot.

Everyone managed to free their families, with little drama. Mark seemed to read the questions slowly, but he still managed to free Nicole's mother. Strangely, Paul didn't seem to have answers to any of the questions about his wife. He passed on the first three and fumbled through the rest. This was a big mission for the pot with $50,000 added.

There were some funny interactions between Nicole and her mom during the interview process when they bantered about whether Nicole should throw the competition and go home.

Nicole says that she planned to throw the quiz so that she could go home. The best option there is for Nicole to pick herself as the mole and vote that in the quiz. On the other hand, anyone else who thinks she's the mole would tie her, which is exactly what happened. They didn't say who tied her, but Clay mentioned he may vote for Nicole and, hmmmm ... what do you know? Clay went bye-bye. Of course at the execution Nicole said she didn't throw it, but I don't buy that.

I still think Mark is the mole, although he has played it cool the last few weeks. Nicole is somewhat suspicious since having her tell the audience that she was throwing it is awfully Mole-ish. But I'd peg Craig as the runner up to the mole.
