Fair brings together community health services

Usually insurance dictates what medical facilities a patient can use, but when there is choice involved, the selection may be daunting.

St. Edwards Episcopal Church in Silverton hosts a health fair on April 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in an effort to perhaps make the choice easier.

Supplemental health practices are offered my multiple businesses and doctors as well. The fair, open to the public, has a group of speakers and booths set up to provide information and awareness about institutions in the community that in their words "facilitate health and wellness."

Speakers include Dr. Braman, who talks about integrative medicine, Dr. Schmidt, who imparts the benefits of chiropractic medicine, and Sara Fronza who speaks on her expertise: nutrition.

Representatives from the Wellspring Heart Program are also scheduled to speak at the event. Other speakers will discuss fitness and other healthy lifestyle choices.

However, even the healthiest people must visit the doctor.

Local business have booths set up for the fair to provide information of their specific practices. A dentist and optometrist are part of the group. Silverton Fitness Center and Silverton Hospice have booths as well.

Center welcomes new chiropractors

In this rough economic time, it not as common for businesses to be expanding their staff and services.

However, Quality of Life Health and Wellness Center adds to its business this April two new chiropractic doctors. On April 3, the center hosts a ribbon cutting and open house for Heppner and Doll Chiropractic,

Dr. Abby Heppner and Dr. Shaun Doll's offices celebrate the ribbon cutting at 10:30 a.m. at the center's 12th St. location in South Salem. The open house, also open to the public, is scheduled for 7-8 p.m. later that same day.

Guests may sample cake and take a tour of the facility.
