It won't be back to black
Hope Orthopedics has recently opened a second therapy and rehab center in Keizer. No, it's not that kind of rehab. The facility, located at 5825 Shoreview Lane, offers programs aimed at helping patients recover from injuries as well as teaching preventative methods for joints and muscles.
“This new center is an important step in our ongoing efforts to ensure that our comprehensive orthopedic-related services and programs are easily accessible to our patients and clients,” said David Schlactus, CEO of Hope Orthopedics.
Part of the new satellite program is a special therapy program for athletes. Equipped with fitness and conditioning machines, patients can work with physical therapists, many of whom double as certified athletic trainers.
Sport-specific strength, speed, and agility programs are also available as part of this return-to-sport training.
One painful and common sports injury is a torn ACL. Here, female athletes can partake in Sportmetrics, which teaches safe techniques for jumping and landing.
The new Keizer location is open for patients from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Salem Hospital offers free health screenings
Practicing preventative health care involves making a multitude of lifestyle decisions. However, for those who are uninsured or unable to afford health care, a piece is missing. Especially after certain ages, doctors recommend that people have regular check-ups and tests even if healthy. Going undiagnosed means that any potential treatment or cure in inevitably delayed.
For such patients, Salem Hospital offers two free cancer screenings on April 10 at 10 a.m. First, those who are at least 50 years old may qualify for a colonoscopy. Secondly, the Salem Cancer Institute and the Dermatology Clinic sponsor a free skin cancer screening.
Advance scheduling is required and each person has to be qualified.
