"Mirrors"Keifer Sutherland plays a role that is new to him: a rebel law enforcement officer. How surprising. Sutherland ends up an ex-cop who has to find work as a security guard at a vacant department store. Instead of an easy gig, he finds that the mirrors in the store threaten himself and his family.
"Mirrors" is rated R and is playing at Regal Movieland 7, Regal Santiam 11, Independence Cinema.
"Star Wars: The Clone Wars"
What's worse than a bad review? How about forcing embargoes on reviewers who didn't dig your work? Lucasfilms, this week, got up in arms when a number of online sites published really bad (honest) reviews of his latest attempt to cash in on the Star Wars franchise. Ain't it Cool News pulled their review, but not before it was spread all over the Internet. If the super-nerd Harry at AICN didn't like a Star Wars movie, beware.
"Star Wars: The Clone Wars" is playing at Regal Movieland 7, Regal Lancaster Mall Stadium 11, and Independence Cinema.
"Tropic Thunder"
Here's another movie with some big negative press before its opening. "Tropic Thunder" follows three actors as their action movie plot becomes real when fighting breaks out in the part of the jungle they are using for a set. Instead of running for their trailer, they attempt to be real action stars. Robert Downey Jr's character, practically in modern blackface, and Ben Stiller's character starred in a movie called "Simple Jack" that makes fun of people with disabilities. Whether the "Simple Jack" fiasco was a marketing problem or if it's covered in the movie is up in the air. Regardless, it has sparked the attention of advocacy groups.
"Tropic Thunder" is rated R and is playing at Regal Movieland 7, Regal Lancaster Mall Stadium 11, and Independence Cinema.
"Vicky Cristina Barcelona"
If Keifer Sutherland staring into store mirrors doesn't sound appealing or bad Star Wars movies and possibly offensive Ben Stiller comedies aren't your thing -- how about Penelope Cruz and Scarlett Johansson making out? All the marketing around this film is about these two hotties kissing. Oh yeah, did I mention that Woody Allen directed it? The two leading ladies star as Vicky and Cristina. Javier Bardem co-stars.
