Cruising up and down the river is always a pleasure. With the addition of
fine food and great entertainment, you have an exceptional voyage. The
gleaming, 15-year old paddle wheeler, Willamette Queen, departs from the dock at Riverfront Park twenty-two times each week, and offers meals on half of these trips.

Live entertainment livens up many of the cruises. Stand-up comedians perform on the sternwheeler once a month.

"We use a booking agency to locate acts that are slated to come into the area. They screen them for appropriateness. We've had some very well-known acts on board the boat," said Chesbrough, pointing with pride at his photo gallery.
One of the most popular cruises is Murder Mystery Theater presented by
Cwerks. Held twice a month, mystery theater transforms passengers into expert detectives who examine clues to solve a crime. Five guests volunteer to be suspects, using props and scripts to baffle their fellow passengers. The mystery unfolds during dinner until all clues are revealed. "It can
become quite hilarious," Chesbrough said.

Musical performances also are popular, especially for mealtime.

"Background instrumentals and vocals create a nice atmosphere," Richard
Chesbrough, owner of the Willamette Queen said. "The diners seem to like it
when the musicians move from table to table serenading them."

The Willamette Queen, with a capacity of 90 passengers, hosts many private parties and weddings.

"The private groups often have fun with our karaoke equipment, and some parties do a lot of dancing," said Chesbrough. He added, "We sponsor holiday parties and theme parties, and we really decorate the boat. This Easter, the Easter Bunny is coming to brunch!"
