Take a helicopter to fly high over wine country

Tour Oregon wine country via the Ferrari of all helicopters, the six-passenger Eurocopter EC 130, for an experience that is unlike any other, invites Tyler Sturdevant with Precision Helicopters.

"This is a good way to visit Oregon's wine country, because it offers you the best of all worlds," Sturdevant said. "First off, you're able to enjoy the beautiful scenery that the Willamette Valley has to offer. Secondly, you don't have to worry about getting lost on some of those back country roads. And last but not least, you arrive in style and have the time of your life doing it!"

Precision Helicopters offers several packages with the option to modify any of them or to create your own tour, Sturdevant said.

"We use the Eurocopter or the four-passenger MD 500," he said "Both aircraft offer a great view. And we can also use multiple aircraft on a single group if need be and with enough advance notice."
Passengers depart from Precision's private airpark, just 4 miles west of Newberg in the heart of the Chehalem Valley.

"I personally enjoy showing people Oregon's beauty this way because it brings a whole new appreciation of the area," Sturdevant said. "Even people who have lived in this area their whole life can't believe how beautiful the scenery is."
Sturdevant also likes his job because of the people he meets.

"I really enjoy interacting with people and seeing them have a good time," he said.

Options range from a one-hour, one winery tasting tour to a three-hour, three-winery tasting tour.

Fees range from $119 per person, with a four-passenger minimum, to $1128 per person, with a six-passenger minimum. Tasting fees are included.

"You can tour from one hour to all day," Sturdevant said. "Taking a tour will completely change the way you look at Oregon's wine country as well as the Willamette Valley itself."

Destinations can also include the Oregon Coast, Mt. St. Helen's and the Columbia River Gorge. Pick-up arrangements can be made for the Portland downtown heliport and Portland International Airport. To arrange a tour or for more details, call 1-800-GOFLY or visit www.flyprecision.com.
