From a concert standpoint, things have been fairly quiet out at Spirit Mountain Casino. Most of that has been because they are going through some major reconstruction/remodeling and their new auditorium won't be ready until next spring. But, as they say, you can't stop the rock -- or country or pop or soul -- and they're hosting a number of outdoor shows this summer under the banner "Spirit Mountain Air."

Kicking off the series will be `80s icon Rick Springfield on July 12. Following that, July will also feature shows from Earth, Wind & Fire, Ronnie Milsap and Montgomery Gentry. In the coming months, the Grand Ronde casino will also see Paul Rodgers, Chicago, Gary Allen and Kool & The Gang.

Capacity for these shows will run somewhere around 1,500 and there will be assigned seating. This won't be an evening for the family, though, because all the shows are 21 and up. Then again, how many 14-year-olds know "Smokey Mountain Rain," "All Right Now" and "25 Or 6 To 4?"
