It might be hazy and gray outside, but at WillametteLive.com those are perfect surfing conditions. Web surfing, that is.You've never heard of WillametteLive? Please, allow me introduce you to the Mid-Willamette Valley's newest source for local (and national) news, events and information. Before you begin your surfing expedition, let me show you around a little bit. And don't worry, Salem Monthly readers. We are still your online home for all things Salem Monthly.
WillametteLive.com's news coverage begins at the epicenter of the Willamette Valley - good old Salem, Oregon -- and works its way outward. That means we cover all the usual suspects such as Eugene, Albany, Corvallis and Portland as well as Silverton, Stayton, Turner and other small towns along the way.
Why? Simply because we feel that the Internet is a key medium to get the word out that there is more news, events and opinions in Oregon than just those out of Eugene and Portland. Our goal is to offer national information from a local perspective. Translation: Our panel of experts will not be from New York.
We plan to have exclusive content for WillametteLive.com immediately, so bookmark us and keep coming back, because you'll see something new every day.
All the great articles that you read in Salem Monthly are also here. But wait there's more. We've added interactive features, such as extended Web links, corresponding videos, polls, and more. So after you've read the latest edition of SM over your morning coffee, waste away your work hours by checking out the extended online content.
Don't forget to tell us and other viewers what you think. Did we get something wrong? Right? Love us? Hate us? Post a comment at the bottom of any story page by clicking on "Post a Comment." You can post anonymously or register for a username, which will be attached to your comments.
Our event calendar is a cure-all for boredom. You can check out current events by visiting the events page or by accessing it from the Events link at the top of every screen. Take a look, you might just find something that lures you away from the couch.
Posting events is free and easy, so all you starving artists can announce your gigs without worrying about skimming from the Top Ramen budget. You can submit events by following the submission process.
We've also launched a Classified system where you can post free online classified ads. Now you can sell that blue glass collection you've been meaning to get rid of and purchase that new boat you've been wanting. Access the classified section here. There is a small optional fee to have your classified ad published in Salem Monthly. Visit the Classifieds page for more information.
Are you one of those people who think there's nothing to do? One look at our handy "find" box, which is located in the right-hand column contains all you've ever wanted to know about local restaurants, movie theatres and nightlife hotspots. You'll find a map and telephone number as well as any past articles that we've run either on WillametteLive or in Salem Monthly.
Browse restaurants and nightlifelocations here or check out the Dining and NightLife sections for information.
The features that you see on this site are only the basics. Many exciting features will be added. Meanwhile, look around and tell us what you think so far. If you see a technical problem please e-mail our support department support@willamettelive.com.
