Salem Chamber Orchestra will present its next two Summer Soirees on July 21 at 7:30pm at the Ike Box and on July 28 at 7:30pm at Prudence Uncorked.
On July 21, the group Unbande with violists Danny Seidenberg and Daryl Silberman, cellist Noah Seitz and guitarist Christopher Woitach will perform. The program features jazz standards, originals and an eclectic mix of musical styles. Seidenberg is a Juillaird graduate and is likely known for his 12 years as the violist of the Turtle Island Quartet. That group is known for bridging styles like classical and jazz. Silberman plays many contemporary styles on traditional instruments. Seitz is a native Oregonian who has studied cello at universities across the country and performs regularly with OSU Symphony, the Oregon Mozart Players, and the Camerata Musica chamber music series in Salem. Woitach is a jazz guitarist and composer with experience performing jazz styles from Dixieland to Bebop.
The Ike Box is located at 299 Cottage St NE in downtown Salem. Parking will be available on the street.
The recital on the 28th will feature woodwind works by Francaix, Bozza, Bitsch, and Milhaud. The quartet features flutist Sarah Tiedemann, clarinetist Natalie Pascale, oboist Catherine Lee, and bassoonist Nate Helgeson. According to a release by the Salem Chamber Orchestra:
An accomplished flutist hailed for her rich tone and fierce command of the instrument, Tiedemann has carved out a unique and varied career as a performing artist, currently serving as Principal Flute of SCO. Lee has performed extensively on the oboe and the English horn as a solo, chamber, and orchestral musician, and has performed with many orchestras. Pascale, who has performed with numerous ensembles including the Phoenix Symphony, the Arizona Opera Orchestra, Ballet Tucson, the Arizona New Music Ensemble, and the Bowling Green Chamber Orchestra, now serves as SCO’s Principal Clarinetist. Helgeson is a graduate student in bassoon performance at the University of Oregon, and a current player in SCO.
Free customer parking is available on the street as well as in the Pringle Parkade, just above the restaurant. Prudence Uncorked is located at 325 High St SE in downtown Salem.
Both events will feature a light dessert reception. Tickets for both events are $25 for adults and $15 for students in advance, $30 for adults and $20 for students at the door. Call Travel Salem at 503-581-4325 ext 21 or order online at salemchamberorchestra.org.
