State of TV: Smallville, 90210, and Dancing with the Stars

Producers of a "Super" caliber

Somehow I missed the fact that superhero producers Al Gough and Miles Millar are departing as executive producers of "Smallville." It may have slipped through the cracks, but "Smallville" is in for quite a change next season. Michael Rosenbaum, the actor who plays bald-headed Lex Luthor, is also leaving. So with a new group of execs and their supervillain gone, will the story of Clark Kent's childhood still bring in the ratings?

The ZIP code everyone knows

I never quite understood the craze behind "Beverly Hills: 90210." The only thing the show gave me was a quick, valid, zip code to use on signup forms that I didn't want to receive mail from. But in the world of "Gossip Girl," it's no surprise that The CW reached into the cobwebs and pulled out a remake of the teen drama. It looks like the former cast is having a hard time staying out of it, with Jennie Garth, Shannen Doherty, and Tori Spelling all popping into the first season.

In other Beverly Hills High alum news, Brian Austin Green is slated to become a regular cast member on "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles."

When will the stars run out?

So far there's not any hint of who is going to be dancing until they can't dance anymore on the next season of "Dancing with the Stars." The only real news is that neither Kathy Griffin nor former Vice President Dan Quayle will be competing. We've got so wrapped up into this show that there is actually buzz about a "celebrity" dancing competition. I've often questioned the casting choices of these "celebrity" shows, but when openly D-list Kathy Griffin turns you down, it's really time to reconsider the term "celebrity." Let the Tango continue, ABC.
