The winners of Salem Audubon Society's third annual photo contest have been announced and the calendars in which they will appear are available for purchase.

In "Birds of Oregon - 2008" one winning photographed bird is identified each month. The calendars also have a map of Important Bird Areas in Oregon on the back page.

Grand prize winner is Brian Tillinghast of Scio for his vibrantly colored picture of a bluebird feeding two hatchlings. Allen Norby of Albany won the first prize plus the prize for another month. Second prize plus two months went to Lisa Humphrey of Hillsboro. Other winners were Chris Hoy of Salem, three months; Bill Geibel of Silverton, two months; and one-month winners Curt Deatherage of Creswell, Glen Lindeman of Salem, Deena Nunn of Silverton and Nancy Whitley of Albany.

This year's contest drew 62 contestants who submitted 138 pictures.

The cost is $25 for a wall calendar and $15 for a desk calendar. Proceeds will support Salem Audubon Society programs.
