The one thing you can count on is that Worrynauts will never be on a major label. This has nothing to do with the quality of the group's music and everything to do with the fact that the band's way of doing things would give a label executive an aneurism. If you don't believe us, look at its history; it's a lot to wrap your head around.
Forming as a seven-piece earlier this year, the group released its first recording, "Five Years EP," in June. To date, only 12 copies or so have been made of the six-song set. Two months later, the lineup had dropped to three members and they had abandoned conventional instruments in favor of toy ones. This, of course, led to the aptly titled release "Three People In A Basement With Toys EP."
After issuing a dozen copies of its debut, what would you expect Worrynauts to do on its second release? Well, the logical option is to make up one copy of the album and auction it off at a show. Isn't that the way Sony and Capitol do it?
Worrynaut lead Peter The Great (a.k.a. Peter DeGroot) says that there are plans to offer an album with more availability sometime in the near future. He adds that the group's intention is "to record as much and often as possible until we have more than we need for a full-length album, then pick out approximately 45 minutes of the best stuff and release it."
For some reason, that almost sounds too simple for these guys. We'll wait and see, though, because they're likely to throw in another twist we'll be watching with interest.
