Oregon Tilth is holding its 33rd annual conference January 18-19 at the Salem Conference Center. This year's conference offers a variety of topics relevant to anyone involved with food systems, organic agriculture and livestock, sustainability, advocacy, and many other issues. It is also an opportunity for the general public to learn about sustainable agriculture and organic food production. The Registration fee is $20 per day for Oregon Tilth members, or $50 per day for nonmembers (meals are extra). After January 1, 2008 all registrations will be subject to a $25 late fee. For more information or to register visit tilth.org registration or contact Oregon Tilth at (503) 378-0690.
Oregon Tilth also is sponsoring "Soils and Sustainability" an intensive 3-day workshop January 21-23 at Salem Conference Center. It will be led by Neal Kinsey, author of "Hands on Agronomy" and an internationally recognized soil fertility specialist. The workshop will offer valuable information concerning how to improve and manage a farm's soil fertility, from the basics of using and interpreting a soil test to learning how to identify the effects of depleted or excessive nutrients in soil. The discussion will include organic inputs, transitioning to organic agriculture, and examples of local soil samples.
The full course cost is $295 for nonmembers, or $269 for Oregon Tilth members. Registration ends December 31. To view the agenda, learn more about Neal Kinsey, or to register, visit tilth.org.
