OLCV plans Marion County Campaign Kickoff

The Marion County Chapter of Oregon League of Conservation Voters will present their 2008 Campaign Kickoff this Friday, March 21 at Historic Deepwood Estate. Those attending the event will have the opportunity to meet the candidates and find out to whom OLCS will give their endorsement.

A few of the candidates who will be in attendance include Kurt Schrader and Steven Marks, who are running for congress and Lloyd Chapman who is running against Janet Taylor for Salem's Mayoral seat. Representative Brian Clem and Representative Betty Komp also will be in attendance.

Special guests who will attend include former Salem mayor Mike Swaim and Senator Peter Courtney.
The event will take place at Historic Deepwood Estate, 1116 Mission Street in Salem from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Cost is $25, and includes admission, wine and hors d'oeuvres. To make a reservation, e-mail tresa@olcv.org or call (503) 224-4011.
Over the last five years, OLCV has been working in Marion County to get pro-environment leaders into public offices.

According to their Web site, they identify, endorse, campaign on behalf of pro-environment candidates and hold elected officials accountable on environmental issues.

also hosts its Progress[ive] Happy Hour each month at McMenamins Thompson Brewery, located at 3575 Liberty Rd. S.

This month's meeting will be held on March 26 from 6 to 8 p.m.

This event is intended to offer a platform for those who are concerned about the environment to meet and strategize about all things Marion County in a social setting.
