"Hairspray"

If you haven't seen the original show, then I'll just point out that it's like Molly Shannon's "Superstar" only slighty more based in reality.

Tracy Turnblad, an overweight unpopular teenager played by Nikki Blonsky becomes obsessed with becoming a dancer on a local TV show.

Her master plan also includes snatching the lead dancer (Zac Efron) as her boyfriend. Tracy's mother, Edna (played in drag by John Travolta), is worried that she'll be hurt.

Amanda Bynes, Michelle Pfeiffer, Queen Latifah, Disney's Zac Efron, and John Travolta in drag? What more could you ask for in a remake of a musical classic?

"Live Free or Die Hard"

YIPPIE-KI-YAY MOTHER -- oops ... PG-13. Poor John McClane couldn't use his catch phrase this summer, but he brought the guns blazing and won over fans with the (allegedly) last edition to the Die Hard series.

This time he teams up with a computer programmer played by Justin Long to hunt down the bad guys. Tim Olyphant plays Thomas Gabriel, a former intelligence officer who has decided to take down the government's electronic infrastructure. If you can bypass how unreasonable the plot is and focus on the action, this is worth a rent.

"Rescue Dawn"

The story follows the experiences of Lt. Dieter Dengler (Christian Bale) whose plane was shot down over Vietnam. After being discovered in Laos, he was taken prisoner by the North Vietnamese. The movie was written and directed by Werner Herzog who directed of the documentary "Grizzly Man."

"The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause"

"Santa Clause 3" was released last year prior to Christmas and hopes to soak up some more of your Christmas money by being released on DVD. Tim Allen returns as Santa, who has to juggle to keep his family happy and save Christmas from icy Jack Frost (Martin Short).

Movie was pretty good but I found myself staring at
Bruce Willis' new facelift which is distracting.
