Smith Fine Arts Series has announced its 2007-08 Season. For their first performance they will offer a concert featuring Freddy Cole, Nat King Cole's Brother and jazz musician Kevin Mahogany. Pearl Django, a group that will spice things up with '30s-'40s French jazz, is set to perform next. The dance performance will be Garth Fagan Dance, whose claim to fame is Broadway's "The Lion King." The season will end with a fun, family-friendly show, Laser Vaudeville, which consists of juggling and other vaudeville acts set to a laser light show.
Every year Smith Fine Arts incorporates at least one outreach performance into their season, which they offer to the surrounding community. But this year, says Executive Director Carole Orloff, every single event will offer an outreach program. Freddy Cole and Kevin Mahogany will offer a master class at Western Oregon University;
Pearl Django will perform at Capital Manor; Garth Fagan will offer a master class, and Laser Vaudeville will perform at a local school.

Each year SFA has offered a performance at a local school, a project that is underwritten by the Assistance League. "We do it in rotation," Orloff said. "We try to reach all the schools within a reasonable distance." They especially focus on some of the smaller schools, such as those in Falls City, Perrydale and Willamina.

This summer SFA will have a summer auction and picnic, a fundraiser for the series as well as the outreach programs. Tickets to the Series will be available beginning in May and are $90 for all performances or $24 each if purchased individually. Student tickets are $10.
