MCMENAMINS HOTELS OFFER A LITTLE HISTORY, A LOT OF ROCK N' ROLL

The Salem McMenamins restaurants are good for an evening out: a burger and beer, perhaps some good live music and then home. But other area McMenamins, specifically ones with hotels attached, are treated to the monthly Great Northwest Music Tour. There is no admission to the festivities, but visitors are invited to spend the night and enjoy a full night of music, food and drink.

Each hotel offers, much like McMenamins restaurants, a quirky or historic element.

McMinnville's Hotel Oregon was built in 1905 and has been home to a restaurant and lounge, banquet hall, Greyhound bus depot, Western Union, soda fountain and beauty parlor. Forest Grove's Grand Lodge was built in 1922 as a Masonic & Eastern Star home.

Performing in these landmark buildings this month will be The Hunger Mountain Boys -- dubbed eclectic American music.
The Boys offer up a twangy and acoustic sound that has a `30s and `40s feel to it. Think old Betty Boop cartoons or, more recently, Soggy Bottom Boys.

According to their press release, the trio have been performing the club and festival circuit since 2003. They have released three full-length albums and one vinyl single. To hear a selection of their songs visit hungermountainboys.com.
