Today New Hampshire votes have chosen their party's candidate for President of the United States of America.

New Hampshire Governor John Lynch is predicting half a million voters flocking to the polls. This predication comes after record-breaking numbers of voters in the Iowa caucuses for both parties last week. New Hampshire has "semi-open" primaries, which allows independent voters to vote for either the GOP or Democratic parties. In 2000, 62% of New Hampshire's independent voters leaned towards the GOP side. In a CNN poll released on Sunday night, Barack Obama appeared to be gathering a big following amongst NH's independent voters.

John McCain who has been tracked as the front runner for the GOP is projected as the winner of the GOP. McCain was also the winner of the primary in 2000. Mitt Romney came in second place, with Mike Huckabee in a distance third. Both Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney have called to offer congratulations to McCain for his win. Rudy Giuliani still had a small percentage of the votes, since most of his time and finances went into the upcoming Florida primary.

The Democratic Party's race was much closer in New Hampshire. Senator Hillary Clinton and Senator Barack Obama maintained close percentages through the tallying of the votes. With 71% of the vote tallied, Senator Hillary Clinton is being projected by CNN and the Associated Press to have won the New Hampshire Associated Press. Earlier tonight, John Edwards finished in third place. At the time of publication, we have only heard John Edwards give his concession speech, where he stated that he will continue in the race.

Democrats results with 82% of the counties reporting:

Hillary Clinton - 39%
Barack Obama - 37%
John Edwards - 17%
Bill Richardson - 5%
Dennis Kucinich - 1%

GOP results with 80% of the counties reporting:

John McCain - 37%
Mitt Romney - 32%
Mike Huckabee - 11%
Rudy Giuliani - 9%
Ron Paul - 8%
Fred Thompson - 1%
