"Awake"

Jessica Alba and Hayden Christensen star in this film in which Christensen's character undergoes surgery and is "awake" during the procedure. During the surgery he discovers that his doctor friend, played by Terrence Howard, is hatching a conspiracy against him. Not much to be surprised about in a movie that features Anakin Skywalker and the girl who can't say no to a bikini scene.

"Into the Wild"

After graduation, Christopher McCandless (Emile Hirsch) abandoned his life, donated his savings to charity and hitchhiked to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Jon Krakauer bases this story on the real life of McCandless and the best-selling book. Sean Penn directs.

"Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium"

"Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium" is the best toy store in the world. Not because of its selection, but because its magical and everything within it comes to life. When Mr. Magorium decides it's time to move on, the Wonder Emporium rejects his departure and it's up to Magorium, his apprentice played by Natalie Portman, and a young customer to bring back the magic of the store. This was one of the best family films of 2007, and definitely worth a place on your DVD shelf. Check out the full review: here.

"Things We Lost in the Fire"

After experiencing the death of her husband, the "center of her universe," a woman copes with her new life, while finding a bond with her husband's drug addicted friend. It seems like such a whiny plot that it's hard to even take it seriously. Want to feel depressed? Here you go. There's not even a fire, talk about false advertisement.

"My Kid Could Paint That"

Four-year-old Marla Olmstead is an internationally known artist who has sold hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of paintings. No, that's not a typo, she's 4 years old and this documentary examines her shot at celebrity and the controversy around whether she actually is doing the painting. The film's director was called in to restore the family's integrity, but it's up to the audience to decide.
