Due to a scheduling conflict, we were not able to run Idoltude yesterday. Here are responses from yesterday and today:Week Two has been a rough one for the remaining contestants. But one thing is clear: We have ourselves a star. Little Robbie Archuleta is one talented kid. I've raved about how cute he is and, indeed, that has not changed. But this week he also proved that he is a brilliant artist. Let's just hope he didn't blow his wad too soon and he keeps the good stuff coming. Here's a lowdown on everyone else's performances, all of which were fair to middlin'.
Michael Johns: The Australian rocker was a disappointment this week. He gets a big yawn and a "so what" from us at Idoltude.
David Castro: His performance last week was stellar, and this week was very reminiscent, but not quite as good. Lucky for him he has those eyes that will certainly get him to the Top Twelve.
Luke Menard: Queen?? Are you kidding? Stick to your a cappella roots, my friend. This guy needs the boot in a bad way.
Robbie Carrico: Look Robbie, let me lay it out for you. You may be a rocker in your HEART and in your SOUL - and that's fine. So am I, baby. But for the love of all that is good, get the message. You don't have a rocker's voice. Move on.
Danny Noriega: This boy is about as gay as the day - until he started singing tonight, and suddenly it was gone. Whoa. Danny needs to find his voice (he was almost there tonight) and stick with it. He has some potential.
David Hernandez: Okay, David did pretty well. A distant second place to our 16-year-old hero of the night.
Jason Yeager: Count on your looks to get you through life, pretty boy, because you sure can't count on your voice.
Chikezie: Still cheesy, but better than last week.
David Cook: He's not bad; why does he have to ruin it by arguing with the judges?
David Archuleta: Ahhh ... the evening's saving grace. "Imagine" there's no David, and I don't think we'd have a show this season.
Just when things start looking up for the boys, along come the girls to wipe out any hope of a Week Two rebound. There were NO stand-out performances here, just a lot of blahs.
Carly Smithson: She's consistent, you gotta give her that. But so far she's come up short for me, and this week was no exception.
Syesha Mercado: This girl is the full package, and one I hope to see make it to the Top Twelve. She came up a little short tonight, but in light of the other performances, was not so bad after all.
Brooke White: I still hate her. The song may have been fine, cute even as an homage to Simon. But I can't stand her and I'm looking forward to the day she and her guitar hit the road.
Ramiele Malubay: Her short, cuteness could only last so long. One of the top three voices? Really Simon? I guess I haven't seen that yet.
Kristy Lee Cook: Is she still in the competition? Wow. I'd completely forgotten about her. She needs to go or do something big to stand out. Tonight may have been better than last week (although like Simon said, who can remember?) but it wasn't enough.
Amanda Overmyer: The hair. The pants. It was all too much. Amanda, honey. Stop trying so hard. You have gone from Hot Nurse to Scary Nurse in a matter of minutes. Tone it down and please PLEASE get some hair and make-up help.
Alaina Whitaker: Last week Alaina surprised me. This week I got the performance I was expecting last week only now my expectations were higher. In a nutshell, Alaina fell hard this week. It's going to be a tough climb back.
Alexandrea Lushington: Oh, Alexandrea. She was scarred by Simon's spurn last week and this week came off as a scared little girl. I want last week's Alexandrea back. But alas, if you can't take the heat, you're not a true Idol.
Kady Malloy: Yup, she was still just as bad as last week.
Asia'h Epperson: Asia'h came up a little short this week, too. I was hoping for a big ending, like we got with David yesterday, but it was not in the cards. She'll stick around for another few rounds though.
My picks for who needs to go tomorrow:
Boys: Luke Menard, Jason Yeager
Girls: Kristy Lee Cook, Kady Malloy
