Tonight's bottom three did not represent the contest's worst singers by any stretch of the imagination. They also weren't the best, and each one of them will leave over the next couple of weeks. But tonight America did not eliminate dead weight. In fact they eliminated one of the more interesting contestants.Jason Castro being in the bottom three was perhaps the biggest surprise of the night. But over the past couple weeks he has gotten extremely lazy. But that's not so surprising. Cute Dreadlock Boy is obviously a stoner at heart. We're lucky he doesn't wander off stage in search of Jack in the Box mid-show.
Syesha Mercado, poor girl, is in the bottom three after giving her best performance so far. Apparently it was too little too late.
So it was fun-loving Chikezie who was sent packing this evening. And it's way too soon to say goodbye. Yes, his last performance sucked. Big time. But at least he was interesting to watch and more than once he surprised us with a brilliant - and unusual - performance.
Syesha on the other hand has proved over and over again that she just doesn't have "it." The stage swallows her, she makes poor song choices and her offstage beauty and charm just aren't quite enough to keep our attention. I'll take a few Chi-cheesy songs over her blandness any day of the week.
Tonight's vote leaves Kristy, Ramiele and Syesha with the oh-so-false impression that they are actually worthy of having made it this far.
Kristy's gimmicky song choice, coupled with her new votefortheworst.com following explain how she made it, but what about Ramiele? Please don't tell me that people out there still actually think she's cute.
Instead let's assume that the voting system is rigged and that the producers MADE them eliminate a male and the only believable option was Chikezie. Yeah, let's go with that.
