Fresh Start Market and Coffeehouse opened in July 2006 and was built from materials reclaimed by the Marion County Juvenile Department. The coffee house is part of the county's vocational job-training program and is run by by probation juveniles. These trainees produced all fixtures, furnishings, and items for sale, which include hanging baskets, bedding plants, annuals, perennials, herbs, seasonal fruits and vegetables, Christmas trees, wreaths and firewood. The coffee shop offers sandwiches, salads and wraps, soups, pastries and coffee drinks and fruit smoothies.

All money raised from this shop supports the program. Fresh Start Market & Coffeehouse is located at 3020 Center St. NE. Hours: Mon. - Fri. 7 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.; Sat. 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Coffee information: (503) 585-4956; Market information: (503) 566-2903
