According to the folks that research these types of things, Oregon has the lowest church attendance numbers per capita of any state in the country. Despite this statistic, Contemporary Christian Music does very well in these parts. Haven't really figured that one out yet.
We do know that Salem RiverFest will take place at Riverfront Park on September 22 and 23, and it will feature an impressive list of CCM acts. Saturday night's line-up will consist of Salvador, Jump 5 Grits and Disciple, while Sunday's audience will see Jars Of Clay, Avalon, Big Daddy Weave and Paul Wright.
For an event in its first year, you have to give its organizers credit. Of the eight acts performing, five of them have had an album break the Top 10 on Billboard's Christian Music charts and two of them have had number one albums. Not a bad way to start out.
