Do you know a school staff member who goes above and beyond the call of duty? Now is your chance to make it known to the world. Salem Keizer Educational Foundation is now accepting nominations for the 2008 Crystal Apple Awards.
In 1996, Salem Chamber business representatives teamed up with local educators to begin celebrating teachers. Currently the awards are presented by the Salem Keizer Educational Foundation, and both Salem and Keizer Chamber of Commerce. Their intent is to "celebrate and recognize those teachers, administrators and support staff that exceed all expectations of their profession and who engage community in their work."
To nominate a full- or part-time employee of Salem-Keizer Public Schools or Salem and Keizer private schools, visit Salem Keizer Educational Foundation. All nominations must be received by 5 p.m. on October 3.
The awards are now in the 12th year of recognizing excellence in education. On November 13, the 2008 ceremony will be held at Elsinore Theater. A red carpet event will be held for nominees. Tom Hewitt, Judson Middle School drama teacher and local actor will emcee.
