A local business is celebrating a milestone achievement September 1st. From
4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Cooke Stationery Co.'s, located at 370 State Street,
will be commemorating its 75th Anniversary with prize drawings, free
samples, activities, refreshments and more.
“After 75 Years, we’re still Cooke’n!” said Kip Henery, current owner. "It's quite a milestone in business," he added.
Salem resident James Cooke first opened the business supply store in 1935
at the same location where the store operates today.
After World War II, family member Jim Henery began working at the store and
later assumed ownership. In 1987, Mr. Henery passed away and left the
store to his two children, Kip and Colleen, making it a third generation
family owned business.
Henery provided some insight into his business's success: "A lot of good support from the community; people like to buy local. We joined a buying
group where other dealers join together to accumulate their buying power to
be able to buy direct and good employees."
“As a way to say ‘thank you’ to our many customers and reaffirm our
commitment to provide them with exceptional value and superior service,
please join us as we take a look back at 75 years in Salem," said Henery.
The celebration will take place during the Go Downtown's First Wednesday
activities.
