First Wednesday is a great time to visit downtown and immerse yourself in local festivities. Vision 2020 participants pointed out that abundant traffic and limited parking downtown took away from the fun. Salem-Keizer Transit hopes to make it easier to get to First Wednesday this August. The bus will make eight stops on a circular route, including all three of Salem's public parking garages and the parking areas on Capitol Mall.
The shuttle rides will continue each First Wednesday and Transit folks hope to make it a permanent "mini route" throughout downtown that would run every day.

Another Vision 2020 request was for more ways to experience art in downtown Salem. The Salem Art Association listened and launched a new venture, Project Space, to provide local artists with studio space to work, place their finished product, and conduct performances. Project Space is located at 233 Commercial Street and is open to the public Monday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m.
Project Space will host First Wednesday performances of DanceAbility, live music, urban art, and video work by artists Ann Kresge, Barbara Rowland, and others on August 6 from 6 - 8 p.m.
