Give an imaginative gift this holiday season that sharpens the mind and benefits the Salem-Keizer school system. From now through Jan. 7, 2009, purchase educational games and see benefits in and out of the classroom.
Borderlands Games, located on High Street in downtown Salem provides over 70 games in-store for the holiday promotion. Sale proceeds from these games will benefit the Salem-Keizer Education Foundation, and help over 40,000 students in the district. The Foundation is committed to providing resources for creative educational programs.
The games offered require linguistics, resource management, memorization, mathematics, and other academic skill sets.
One popular game choice, Settlers of Catan, has players build settlements and cities in order to establish a colony. Other options include Carcassone, a medieval-themed board game; Transamerica, a simple railway game; and Ticket to Ride, a cross-country adventure.
Categories for other games include mathematics, language arts, social studies, science, sports, visual-spatial and art. The entire family can play many of these games.
Borderlands Games offers imaginative and educational games and hobby supplies for kids (and adults) of all ages. They support their products with in-store demos, activities and events that bring the community together as well as working with a number of school-based programs to promote the educational value of games.
Shoppers can view the games at Borderlands and place orders for the holiday season. Game descriptions, reviews and further information are available at the Foundation's website, skeducationfoundation.org Borderlands Games is located at 546 High St. NE.
