"Baby Mama"

A single executive Kate Holbrook (Tina Fey) has had enough of the maternal clock ticking and is ready for the dirty diapers. The only problem is that the path she chooses involves hiring a lower class woman to carry her bundle of joy. They end up having to live together and hilarity ensues. Or does it? Read the full review at "Baby Mama' spits up the same old sleepy plotlines. Baby Mama is rated PG-13 and is playing at Regal Movieland 7, Regal Lancaster Mall Stadium 11, and Independence Cinema.

"Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay"

The co-director of "Soldiers of Conscience," (recently featured at the Salem Film Festival) Gary Weimberg, brought up this movie as an alternative route that filmmakers can go to deal with the current political situation with war. His theory was something along the lines of: If Americans didn't want to deal with serious issues than filmmakers can use comedy to get across their message. Unfortunately, I don't think Harold & Kumar are dealing with an issue at all. They wanted burgers the first time around, and now they want to get to the "Pot capital of the world" (read: Amsterdam) but get arrested after smoking pot on the plane. And since it's funny to say brown people go to Guantanamo, they go to Guantanamo.

"Deception"

A-list celebrities in an "erotic thriller"? An accountant (Ewan McGregor) is lured into joining a sex club known as the "The List" by his new lawyer friend (Hugh Jackman). When the accountant's call-girl (Michelle Williams) turns up missing, he becomes the prime suspect in her disappearance as well as a multi-million dollar heist. If you haven't heard about it either, be leery. It looks a bit like "The Game" with sex scenes. One positive is that Wolverine seems like the bad guy. "Deception" is rated R and is playing at Regal Santiam 11 and Independence Cinema.
