A boisterous, singing friend causes embarrassment

Dear Madge,
My best friend of over 25 years is driving me nuts! She has a habit of singing along with any music she hears. On the radio in the car, in elevators, at live concerts, in stores ... you name the place; she has bellowed there. If she had any talent or volume control this might be tolerable. But she has neither. For years I have looked the other way, avoided eye contact with others, stepped slowly away from her as she gives her free "concerts" to whoever is unfortunate enough to be within hearing distance. She has not picked up on any of these "hints" and something must be done. What would you suggest I do or say at this point? I don't want to hurt her feelings but at this point it's her feelings or our friendship. HELP!

Dear Nerve,
Wow. With friends like you, your "friend" of 25 years doesn't need any enemies. So she's quirky. So she sings. She sounds like a hoot. Get over yourself and enjoy her company. Or tell her that her voice sucks and that she's annoying and watch as a once vibrant, happy soul wilts and becomes yet another drone in this white-bread society.

Indeed, if someone's joyful exuberance for life upset you so... go find somewhere else to hang out. She probably thinks you're an overbearing bore, anyway.
