Papa's Pizza Parlor, part of an Oregon chain of parlors in operation since 1971, has closed its Salem store on South Commercial in the former Albertsons shopping center. Papa's Pizza Parlors are family-oriented businesses featuring play areas for children. The Salem Papa's has hosted many school fundraisers and birthday parties and will be remembered fondly. The chain still operates two restaurants in Eugene as well as locations in Gresham, Springfield, Coburg, Corvallis and Beaverton.

The owner of Sharky's Pool and Brew on Commercial Street has tentative plans to open the former Papa's Pizza site as a sports bar.
