"10,000 BC"

Instead of big lizards ("Godzilla") or aliens with dreadlocks ("Independence Day") or wolves in New York City ("The Day After Tomorrow"), Roland Emmerich decided to tackle life in the prehistoric days. Already getting critically panned for having large scientific and historic flaws, "10,000 BC" follows the first hero who embarks on a journey into uncharted lands to secure the future of his people. Here's the deal, if you are looking for a science lesson the movie theatres probably isn't the best place to go. If you want to see giant mammoths kill or be killed, here you are. "10,000 BC" is rated PG-13 and is playing at Regal Lancaster Mall Stadium 11, Regal Movieland 7,  and Independence Cinema.

"The Bank Job"

Let's look at the requirements for Jason Statham being in a movie. 1) Have a troubled past 2) Have nice cars 3) Be able to drive fast in said cars 4) Women in lingerie and/or sweaty sex scene. 5) Shirt must be removed at least once before a big fight scene.

I'm letting Statham off the hook for "Dungeon Siege" -- he had just become popular and thought he was signing on for the next "Lord of the Rings." But this heist film is getting some good reviews. It follows Statham's character, who works on his first major league crime with some old cohorts from his past. It's rated R and is playing at Regal Santiam 11.

"College Road Trip"

Martin Lawrence is going the way of Eddie Murphy and churning out way too many family movies. I'll take a "Big Momma's House" if there's a "Bad Boys" or "What's the Worst That Could Happen?" in between. But the stand up comedian has gone family friendly with "Wild Hogs," "Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins" and now "College Road Trip." In "College Road Trip" he plays an overprotective father who forces himself on a road trip with his daughter and her friends, played by Disney Channel-queen Raven Symone. Martin Lawrence, you so crazy. Come back to the dark side of R rated films. This one's rated G and is playing at Regal Movieland 7, Regal Santiam 11, and Independence Cinema.

"Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day"

For once, Amy Adams isn't playing the shy, mousy woman in a movie. Instead Fargo's France McDormand stars as Miss Pettigrew, a middle-aged governess who finds herself unemployed and thrust into the glamorous world of an American actress and singer, Delysia Lafosse (Amy Adams). It is rated PG-13 and is playing at Regal Santiam 11.
