What is a Nia class like?
Nia is a conditioning program for body, mind, emotion, and spirit. A
typical Nia class is one hour. Nia is done with bare feet; wear
clothing that allows you to move and breathe easily. Each class starts
with a focus, (what you’ll put your attention on) and gentle warm-up
movements. From there, we get moving and transition into a more
cardiovascular section. We cool-down with playful movements and
stretches. Each teacher demonstrates levels that honor a light,
moderate, or more intense workout for each individual. Beginners start
at any time.
How Does Nia Work?
Nia is a movement class which draws from disciplines of the martial
arts, dance arts and healing arts. Every class offers a unique
combination of moves that correspond with the main areas of the body:
the base, the core and the upper extremities. Stiff beginners and
highly fit athletes alike can adapt Nia to meet their needs by
choosing from three intensity levels.
What is the Nia Technique?
Nia is a sensory-based lifestyle practice. We invite people to become
“Sensation Scientists” and step into a joyful journey with Nia to
positively shape the way you feel, look, think and live!
