Eric Wuest, a local artist exhibiting for nearly 20 years, is creating a platform for artists and people working in our arts community to share their experiences, creative processes, and personal stories with the public.
Melanie Belle, host of “Melanie in the Morning” on KMUZ invited Wuest to be a guest on her show. In her weekly spot, Belle features “ordinary people with extraordinary stories” from the mid-Willamette Valley, and as Eric describes, he was invited to “share his story of the struggling artist.” After the show, Belle encouraged Eric to do a regular show about the arts and artists in the mid-Willamette Valley.
With a little hesitation, a lot of encouragement from friends, and a definite interest from the art community, Wuest pitched “Talking about Art” and found a slot on the local public radio station. Wuest envisions the show as a way to share ideas about “living with art as a focus in life” and exploring how art can change both, the maker and the viewer.
Tune in to KMUZ 88.5 FM every 2nd and 4th Friday morning from 8:30-9:00 and join Eric on an artful journey. Listeners will hear from local artists, learn about individual artistic processes, and explore our local art culture while gaining a better understanding of the quality of arts in our community.
Find out about the work that goes into creating large, annual events like the Clay Ball and Salem Art Fair when Eric invites Meaghan McGraw, Events Coordinator at Salem Art Association, as the next guest on “Talking about Art”, Friday, February 22.
