Ty Pennington is coming to Salem, Oregon to take his shirt off. He’ll also be helping one needy family by giving their house an extreme makeover. The lucky winner will be chosen sometime during the first week of September. We’ll all be able to watch their reaction on national TV as Pennington, host of the ABC reality show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” delivers the news with a surprise door knock.

Rich Duncan Construction Team will donate its services, including design and oversight of the project, while partners and suppliers provide the rest of the materials and labor.

“When Extreme Makeover: Home Edition called us, there was no doubt we were willing to take on the challenge,” said Rich Duncan, owner of Rich Duncan Construction. “Rich Duncan Construction has always believed in giving back to our community and is excited about helping some very deserving individuals.”

Duncan’s firm was chosen because of its reputation for community involvement and environmental leadership, said the event’s press release.

The group makes frequent charitable donations, sponsors community events, and is involved with Habitat for Humanity, the Salem and Keizer Chambers of Commerce, the Chemeketa Community College Foundation and various youth mentoring programs.

Rich Duncan has Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified staff and participates in the Smart Environmental Recycling program, the National Trust for Historic Preservation and Earth Wise.

Rich Duncan’s style can be observed in the McDonald’s Express structure, Java Crew stands, Caruso’s Italian Cafe and Massage Envy.

“Our theme this season is ‘Extreme Goes Extreme,’ and both the people that will be chosen and Rich Duncan Construction are definite representatives of our theme this season in terms of need and the commitment to make this project happen,” said said Milan Vasic, senior producer of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
