The 15th-year anniversary of the Shrewsbury Renaissance Faire will be held September 11 and 12 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The event offers an educational interactive adventure in history that welcomes families and children. Modeled on the merriest of elements from the times of Shakespeare and Elizabeth I, and set in the historic renaissance of 1558 to 1603, here the Faire is a stage, and everyone a player.

Four stages and nearly 20 different entertainment groups provide revelry like parades, dancing, juggling, magicians, and story tellers. Street performers wander the faire’s site, which has generous shade cover. The event is all ages from the children’s maze to the Shrew & Thistle Pub, which serves adult beverages.

In addition to the food and drink, there are 125 vendor booths displaying a wide variety of crafts. Over 1,000 volunteers participate in full dress to promote the feeling of being in an actual Elizabethan market. There is a tournament field with a live joust on horseback performed twice daily at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m.

The faire is located in King’s Valley, Oregon (HWY 223 & Grant Rd.) Admission is $9 for adults, $5 for seniors and children between 6 and 12. Children under 5 are free. Parking is also available on site for free. For more information, visit shrewfaire.com.
