Oregon Garden Concert Series is wrapping up

It’s too late to see Amy Clawson and Smash Mouth at the Oregon Garden, but there’s still time to catch two 80s rock shows and a country concert as part of this year’s Oregon Concert Summer Series. The award-winning artists on the lineup are promising to satisfy the ears and dancing urges of fans while they watch the sunset at this outdoor venue surrounded by trees, creeks and flowers.

The first of the last three shows in the Garden will be Styx on July 29, which one of the security guards at the Oregon Garden said will be off the hook. Styx was formed in the early 70s, featuring prog-rock and power ballads. Give or take a few split-ups and reunions, the band’s members all continue to perform together: Tommy Shaw, James “J.Y.” Young, Lawrence Gowan, Todd Sucherman and Ricky Phillips. Styx has actually performed more live shows since 1999 than all the previous years since its formation, including tours with Def Leppard, Journey and Boston. Their hits include “Too Much Time on My Hands,” “Lady,” “Come Sail Away” and “Fooling Yourself”.

Next in line is Josh Turner, on August 3rd. Turner is an award-winning country singer-songwriter from North Carolina. “Your Man,” “Would You Go With Me” and “Why Don’t We Just Dance” have remained number one for weeks at a time.

Last but not least, arena rock star and four-time Grammy award winner Pat Benatar and her husband Neil Giraldo will perform August 5th. Benatar is best known for her hits “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” “Love Is a Battlefield,” “We Live For Love” and “Heartbreaker.”

Food, merchandise and beer are available at the site. Pets are not allowed and smoking is restricted.

Tickets are $30 for general admission and $40 for the VIP section. Ages seven and under are free.

A “Concert Series Package” is being offered, which includes two show tickets, overnight accommodations at the Oregon Garden Resort, a picnic basket meal for the concert, breakfast, and admission to The Oregon Garden ($199 plus tax).
