Celebrating the release of the 2008 Amoroso Grenache wine, a dessert wine of very limited production (only 56 cases were made). Amorosa was made in the old-world style, drying the grapes until they’ve almost become raisins to make a more concentrated and sweeter wine. Fermentation was stopped at 6 percent, also to conserve sweetness.
“This Amoroso Grenache is a handcrafted labor of love. Created by Dave Coelho and inspired by his Portuguese grandparents’ loving marriage, this elegant and delicate dessert wine presents itself as a vivid swirl of red satin in the glass. The beautiful aromas of sultanas, rose petal and raspberry lead to a delectable sweet taste of honey, dried apricot, and warm flavors of raspberry jam and red plum. The wine follows through to a round, pleasing, silky texture with a light, gentle and lingering finish. Amoroso may be served room temperature or slightly chilled. Savor it alone, or with a light dessert such as roasted hazelnuts or figs, soft ripened goat cheese or white chocolate cheese cake.”
They will also be pouring the limited production estate Paciência Pinot noir, Pinot gris, Chardonnay, Tradição Portuguese red blend and ports. $10 entry includes appetizers and wine tasting. The event will also feature live music on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. with Alison Psass, a jazzy piano player.
